Rehoboth Beach House / Rehoboth, Delaware

Rehoboth beach house

This family had enjoyed summers at the beach for many years in an older home. When the time came to retire and make the beach their full time residence, they wanted more than the small 1950’s house could offer. So, they bid it a fond farewell and built something new.

There were many wants and requirements competing for attention in the new design. An existing pool in the back yard was to remain and be incorporated. More restrictive zoning had been enacted, posing setback, green space, parking, and floor-area-ratio requirements. The house includes two master suites--an accessible one on the first floor and one on the second floor, and three more bedrooms for friends and family to visit. The home has a simple, open, light-filled kitchen-dining-living area where everyone can come together, but which also is not oversized for the retired couple. This central area of the home opens to the screened porch and the pool.
